Avaya EC500, also known as Extend Call or Extend-to-Cellular, is a feature that directs calls to your desk phone to also ring to another line, such as your home phone number or your personal/work cell phone.

The EC500 feature must first be enabled by ITS. Please contact Admin IT by creating a Web Help Desk ticket; Admin IT will work with ITS to enable EC500 on your desk phone.

The EC500 feature of Avaya desk phones allows you to specify a telephone number to mirror the calls received by your desk phone. The call forward button on your phone can enable or disable this feature.

When EC500 is enabled, you can also transfer calls from your desk phone to cell phone without having the caller’s call dropped, and visa versa. For example, if you take a call on your desk phone, you can use the EC500 feature to transfer the call to your cell phone without hanging up or redialing.

To enable this feature, you will need to provide your desk phone extension, plus the phone number you wish to “tie” to your work phone line. Although the feature can easily be turned on and off, changing the “tied” cell phone number requires contacting IT.

After ITS has enabled EC500, please follow the steps below to activate or deactivate the feature:

  • From the main telephone screen, scroll right to access the Features Menu, or you may press the Forward button on the telephone.
  • Select EC500.
  • Press OK to turn simultaneous ringing on or off.
