The Cisco AnyConnect Mobility Client is a downloadable remote access tool that allows users to access certain protected resources and services while they are away from campus.
The VPN can be accessed either via an installed piece of software (“AnyConnect”) on your USC or personal computer or via a web browser. A link to download the client to your computer, as well as a link to access the web VPN, are available below on this page.
The Cisco AnyConnect Mobility Client is also available for download as a free smartphone app. For iOS devices, need link here or search for “Cisco AnyConnect” on the Apple App Store. For Android devices, click here or search for “AnyConnect” on Google Play.
How to install the Cisco AnyConnect mobility client Software
Windows:
- Open a web browser such as Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer
- Navigate to https://vpn.usc.edu
- Log in with your USC Shibboleth (workday) credentials
- Click on AnyConnect
- Click on Download for Windows
- You will see the download in the bottom left corner(if you’re on Chrome).
- Once it completes the download, Open the AnyConnect download and install it.
- Once the installation is completed, navigate to your Window (Start button) on the bottom left corner of your taskbar. Type in the word cisco and select Cisco AnyConnect…
- On the Cisco Anyconnect security Mobility Client, enter connect.usc.edu.
- You will then be prompted with a new window. Enter your Shibboleth (Workday) credentials for Username and Password.
- Then for the Second Password, type one of the following options:
- push – Use this if you want to receive a DUO mobile notification on your cell phone.
- pin – Use this if you use the DUO mobile application on your phone but are not receiving push notifications from DUO mobile.
- sms – Use this if you want to receive a text message with a six digit code.
- phone – Use this if you don’t have the DUO mobile app and would like to receive a call. Push 1 during a call to proceed. Please note that many people have this set up to call their desk phone at work – so unless you set up call forwarding before you left the office, this option might not work.
- The next time you reconnect, the box where you previously typed “connect.usc.edu” may show up as 1 – USC SSL VPN. This is normal; you’ll still be able to connect.
Mac:
The setup is similiar for the Mac, please navigate to connect.usc.edu in a web browser to begin the process.
